BT SMC LTD is a licensed Ugandan-based consultancy company [ REG NO: 80034611504577 ] established to transform and elevate the quality, safety, and operational standards in laboratory and public health systems. We are a Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental Management Systems firm, operating under a powerful joint venture with Labsystems Strengthening Ltd and Reesq Conformity Services SMC Ltd.

Our approach is simple but powerful: equip institutions — both public and private — with the knowledge, systems, and certifications they need to thrive within national and international compliance standards.

With our headquarters in Entebbe Municipality, we have grown into one of the most trusted consultancy firms in Uganda, serving health institutions, aviation entities, government agencies, and research institutes across East and Central Africa.

Leadership

David L. B. Senkaali, the Managing Director, leads BT SMC LTD with extensive experience in lab systems, QMS design, and national health strategy implementation. Under his leadership, the company continues to receive endorsements from top government and donor institutions and is credited for transforming Uganda’s laboratory landscape.

Our Story


Originally operating under Mittico International Ltd, BT SMC LTD rebranded and formalized its partnership with specialized technical organizations to expand our reach and deepen our impact. Since 2016, we’ve worked with organizations such as the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Ministry of Health, MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit, and several regional hospitals and research labs, helping them meet rigorous quality and biosafety requirements.
From building safety frameworks in laboratories handling high-risk pathogens, to training over 500 professionals in biosafety and biosecurity, BT SMC LTD is a name synonymous with technical excellence, systems reliability, and standards-driven innovation.

We have extended quality systems and biosafety support to over 130 health facilities spanning 12 districts, ensuring consistent laboratory standards, improved patient outcomes, and strengthened public health responses. Our field-based approach fosters sustainability through hands-on assistance, staff training, and system audits aligned with both national and international benchmarks.

Over 510 laboratory professionals, technicians, and health workers have been equipped with practical skills in biosafety and laboratory quality management systems. Through more than 140 targeted mentorships, we’ve guided laboratories, hospitals, and public health entities in strengthening their systems. Working with both government and international donors, these mentorships provided tailored, on-site support to bridge capacity gaps, achieve compliance with ISO standards, and improve readiness for external audits and accreditation.
